Historical Architect and Preservation Leader Sought for PVN Team
PVN is excited to work with the "Save the Historic Terrace Theatre" group on a National Register of Historic Places nomination for the historically significant Terrace Theatre in Robbinsdale. Minneapolis Heritage Preservation Commission Votes to Designate the Snyder Mansion and the C.A. Smith Lumber Historic District
PVN is seeking to add a qualified Historical Architect and Preservation Leader to the team. Historical architects are the core of preservation design services at Preservation Design Works (PVN). Architects work with other PVN staff, clients, and project stakeholders to collaboratively develop project strategies and design solutions that meet preservation standards and guidelines, project goals, and existing historic materials and conditions of the building.
Construction Started on Upham Building (aka Security Building)
PVN worked with the City of Minneapolis to prepare the designation studies for the Snyder Mansion and the C.A. Smith Lumber District, which the Heritage Preservation Commission (HPC) voted to designate as local landmarks on May 17.
Construction has started at the University Avenue elevation of the Upham Building, commonly known as the Security Building. Deteriorated bricks are being removed and deteriorated mortar joints are being raked in preparation for repointing. Currently, the contractor (Acme Tuckpointing) is evaluating the steel lintels and subsequent damaged brick for replacement. Businesses on University Avenue below the pedestrian scaffold protection are open during construction!
