This April 3, 2013 Star Tribune article and video takes a closer look at the delicate process of removing six decorative limestone medallions from the Star Tribune Building's main facade (425 Portland Ave S, Minneapolis).

The medallions are being preserved as one of the conditions of approval of the Minneapolis City Council related to Ryan Companies' Application for Demolition of a Historic Resource. Preservation Design Works has been retained by Ryan Companies to meet the City Council's second condition, which involves written and photographic documentation of the building.

Ryan Companies' official press release related to the project is available here.
